About the Author

Brett Butler has been a follower of Jesus since coming to faith in the year 2000 at the age of 37. He and his wife Patti were married in 2002, each bringing two children into the beautiful messiness of a blended family.

Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, Brett served as an officer in the US military, after graduating from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Business Administration in 1984. After four years of military service, he left active duty to study for his MBA at Harvard University, graduating in 1991.

Brett spent the next 25 years working in a variety of roles in corporate America, from brand management to corporate strategy to customer relationship management.

In 2015, following a call from the Lord, Brett and Patti moved from Lexington Kentucky to the San Francisco Bay Area of California, to serve as missionaries and church planters. It was there that they were introduced to and trained in a movement-oriented approach to growing the Kingdom, which they pursued for the next seven years.

During that time, Brett also developed deep friendships and ministry relationships with movement-oriented Christians in the Majority World. Through lessons learned in those relationships, God moved in Brett’s heart to create this resource and offer it to other practitioners.

In 2022, the Lord returned the Butlers to the Bluegrass region of Kentucky. Now retired from the workaday world, they continue to serve the Lord and make disciples in their local church and through relationships around the world.
